Moving Services Pricing Method
Local Movings Pricing
Our local moving company believes in providing a transparent and fixed pricing model that is tailored to your budget, whether you are moving locally or long-distance. Our goal is to make it easy for you to calculate the cost of your move by offering a range of services with professional movers and a truck. When you choose our moving company, you can rest assured that you are getting a comprehensive moving service that includes free shrink plastic, basic tools and equipment, packing and unpacking, disassembling and assembling, complementary intrastate insurance, fuel, and up to 15 miles for local moves*.
When moving, it’s important to have the right number of movers to save money on the total cost of your move. Although the hourly rate for more movers might be higher, it’s worth it because if you have the correct number of movers, your move will be completed much faster. This means that you will save time and money overall. Additionally, having the right number of movers means that they won’t get tired as easily, which will allow them to work faster and more efficiently. They will also be better able to protect your belongings during difficult moving situations, such as moving heavy items, going up stairs, or walking long distances from the truck to your home. Having new flooring or carpet installed? Is the home being painted? Home improvement companies typically do not move furniture, that means that someone will have to clear out the rooms being renovated. People often hire our movers to have the items moved to another room, garage or portable storage container (POD) outside while work is being done to the home. When the work is complete, our movers will put everything back where it belongs.
If you’ve purchased new furniture you probably need to get rid of the old stuff. Donation pick-up services usually require the items to be on the ground level or outside of the home. Not all furniture delivery services will bring the items into your home either. There are many occasions where they must leave the furniture on the ground floor or outside of the home. We can take over from there, placing the new furniture into the correct rooms.
Want to move a sofa from the living room to the family room? Or swap bedroom suites between two bedrooms? Whatever the scenario, our movers are ready to help move furniture around your home.
If you’re preparing to sell your home you may decide to stage it. If so, you will probably need furniture and boxes moved to different places within the home, garage or POD.
Evictions Game Plan for Landlords: The Moving Steps That Matter
The Moving & Removal Steps That Actually Get Tenants Out
Evictions don’t end when the judge rules in your favor — they end when the unit is physically cleared and returned to your control.
For landlords and property managers, the most critical (and risky) part of an eviction is the moving process: removing tenant belongings, coordinating with constables, protecting the unit, and avoiding liability.
At Local Movings, we regularly assist landlords during eviction move-outs, writs of possession, and post-judgment clean-outs as part of our Commercial Movers in Houston services. This guide focuses on the real-world eviction steps most landlords aren’t told about — but absolutely need to understand.
This article is informational only and does not provide legal advice. Always follow local and state eviction laws.
Step 1: Understand When Belongings Can Be Moved
This is where many evictions go wrong.
Movers cannot legally remove tenant belongings until one of the following happens:
- The tenant voluntarily vacates
- A Writ of Possession is issued
- A constable or sheriff authorizes removal (when required)
Hiring movers too early can expose landlords to claims.
Hiring them too late delays turnover and costs money.
Experienced eviction movers work around court timelines — not assumptions.
Scenario 1: Tenant Vacates Voluntarily
This is the smoothest outcome.
Typical Situation:
- Tenant leaves after Notice to Vacate
- Tenant leaves after court judgment
- Tenant abandons the unit
Moving Steps:
- Schedule rapid clean-out
- Photograph unit before entry
- Remove abandoned belongings properly
- Prepare unit for cleaning and repairs
Speed here directly impacts how fast you can re-rent.
Scenario 2: Writ of Possession Is Issued (Most Common)
This is where Eviction & Writ of Possession Moving Services become critical..
What Happens:
- Constable posts the writ (typically 24 hours)
- Eviction date and time are set
- Landlord must be ready with:
- Movers
- Truck(s)
- Unit access
- Plan for belongings
Moving Execution:
- Movers arrive before or with the constable
- Belongings are removed quickly and neutrally
- Items are placed per constable instructions
- Locks are changed immediately after possession
Eviction days are emotional and time-sensitive. Professional coordination matters.
Scenario 3: Tenant Is Still Inside on Eviction Day
This is not a normal move.
What Professional Eviction Movers Do:
- Wait for constable authorization
- Avoid communication with tenants
- Remove items only after legal clearance
- Follow instructions precisely and calmly
This protects:
- The landlord
- The movers
- The property
- The eviction judgment
Scenario 4: Heavy Items, Hoarding, or Excess Belongings
Evicted units often contain:
- Large furniture
- Broken appliances
- Hoarded belongings
- Abandoned safes or fixtures
Smart Landlord Approach:
- Use insured professional movers
- Avoid personal handling
- Document removal
- Clear the unit in one controlled operation
Professional removal reduces damage and liability.
Scenario 5: Storage, Curb Placement, or Disposal
Landlords frequently ask:
“Do I have to store the tenant’s belongings?”
That depends on:
- Local laws
- Constable instructions
- Property type
Moving Coordination Options:
- Curb placement (when allowed)
- Temporary storage
- Itemized removal
- Controlled disposal
The key is execution, not guessing.
Scenario 6: Post-Eviction Unit Turnover
Once the unit is cleared:
- Cleaners can enter
- Repairs begin
- Photos are taken
- Listings go live
Faster clean-outs = faster income recovery.
Common Eviction Moving Mistakes Landlords Make
Clearing belongings without authorization
Hiring movers unfamiliar with writs
Emotional engagement with tenants
Underestimating labor & time
Using uninsured labor
Evictions require precision, neutrality, and experience.

We handle the physical reality of evictions correctly.
Final Takeaway: Evictions End With a Truck, Not a Gavel
The court grants possession.
Movers make it real.
When eviction day arrives, having the right moving team protects your asset, your timeline, and your peace of mind.

Every move is unique and your move could take more or less time than we estimate. Ultimately, there are many variables that contribute to how long you move takes. It’s important to understand how these variables may affect your total move time to help you plan accordingly.
Make your move a cost-efficient one by choosing Local Movings’ moving services! Get started by giving us a call, or fill out our online form, and we’ll be in touch to set you up for a free, no-obligation moving estimate!
In a perfect world, your truck or container would be sitting just a few feet from your home. Unfortunately, we don’t live in a perfect world and it’s usually much more complicated than that. When the movers have to climb stairs, use an elevator (reserved or not) or walk a long distance (long carry) it can substantially increase the time it takes to complete your move.
Our time estimates are based on the assumption that your items are already packed and there is minimal assembly/disassembly required. Your moving help can absolutely provide these services for you, however, it will impact your move completion time.
How Billing Works — Transparent, Hourly Rates
At Local Movings, we keep your pricing simple and upfront. Billable time starts when our crew arrives at your pickup location and covers the time spent:
Loading your belongings
Driving between the pickup and delivery addresses
Unloading
Placing items exactly where you want them
This clear hourly structure ensures you only pay for the actual labor performed, with no hidden fees or surprise travel charges.
Trusted, licensed, and insured Houston movers serving a 25-mile radius with transparent pricing.
A long-distance move is defined as any relocation exceeding 25 miles from point A to point B. We maintain a transparent pricing structure. We charge $2 per mile for the one-way distance from the pick-up location to the final destination. In addition to the normal hourly rate for preparing, loading, unloading, and placing, the same hourly rate is applied to the driving time between points A and B, as well as to the return journey from point B back to point A.
Fair and Flexible Rates
While our mileage rates may experience minor adjustments due to economic factors, our commitment to maintaining fair pricing means that you can focus on your move with peace of mind. Our primary goal is to provide a moving experience tailored to your unique requirements.
